My Thoughts On The Refugee Crisis : Part III

So what is the US doing, and what are the legislators and executives saying here? That is, afterall, what ends up being translated into bomb orders and troop shipments. What is said in the halls of Congress, and the White House is key to understand why the Middle East is in it’s current state, and if you do not pay attention to that, then you’re missing out.

I can assure you, I will be covering a lot of people in this, so it’ll be long.

President Obama

The day before the ISIS attacks in Paris, President Obama claimed that ISIS was “contained“. Is that  new? Not really. Remember, Obama claimed that we’d won the “War on Terror” back in 2012. That was proven to be bull when Benghazi rolled around. But we need to look deeper than these comments. How about some actions?

Obama has been bombing the deserts of Syria and Northern Iraq for several months now. What have the results been? Not much really. The US is anything but serious when it comes to dealing with ISIS. Not only is the US running out of bombs to drop on ISIS, but the targeting of ISIS shipments is drawing questions. Not from just bombing them, but from warning the drivers of airstrikes.

Call me crazy, but if you’re trying to be a neo-con, at least act like one and call in for an all out bombing of the area with nukes.

 Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)

Speaking of Neo-conservatives (who aren’t really conservatives), what do they want to do anyways? Well, besides the war supplies and lethal aid, here is what Marco Rubio wants:

Rubio said the U.S. must work with Turkey to create a “safe zone” inside Syria, protected on the ground and from the air, where the rebels can organize and refugees can receive aid and shelter. He said it should have been created “months ago.”

Isn’t that vague? Here is more thuruoughly what Rubio has in mind for Syria:

  • No-Fly Zone? Yes (Source)
  • Arming “moderate” rebels? Yes (Source)
  • Shoot down Russian Aircraft over Syria? Yes (Source)
  • Topple Assad completely? Yes (Source)

How can this pass of as even logical and sensicle? This guy is absent from his job the people of MY STATE elected him to do, and you know what, I’m not really mad. It’s for the better, since his chicken-hawk ass isn’t skrewing things up even more.

But it’s no just Marco Rubio making these calls for these things. It’s a lot of people. People like:

Jeb Bush (R)

Carly Fiorina (R)

Ben Carson (R)

Quite honestly, if there is anyone who isn’t trying to burn down the Middle East, and wants people to think about foreign policy, then here’s your guy:

Now, let’s talk the Democrats.

Bernie Sanders (I-VT) (Only running as a D)

Sanders came out against the no-fly zone, but has been in support of Obama’s weak and failing bombings in the ISIS-held regions of Syria and Iraq. To quote a statement of his:

“I support President Obama’s effort to combat the Islamic State in Syria while at the same time supporting those in Syria trying to overthrow the brutal dictatorship of Bashar Assad,”

“overthrow the brutal dictatorship of Bashar Assad” Sometimes, Berne can diagnose the problem, but most of the time, he misses the solution by a lot. Wanting to overthrow the Assad regime means you support the same regime change that threw Iraq into all of it’s chaos. Bernie’s supporters should be able to figure this out, and not make the mistake of calling him “anti-war”.

Hillary Clinton (D)

Hillary Clinon released a plan to instate a no-fly zone in Syria. Here is what she said:

“I personally would be advocating now for a no-fly zone and humanitarian corridors to try to stop the carnage on the ground and from the air, to try to provide some way to take stock of what’s happening, to try to stem the flow of refugees,” Clinton said in an interview with NBC affiliate WHDH in Boston after a campaign event nearby.

Hillary Clinton is a war-mongerer? No shock honestly.

But there are more than just the candidates. The current politicians are speaking, and saying a lot of shit that couldnt make things better.

John McCain (R-AZ)

“I would say as Hillary Clinton has recommended and David Petraeus before the Senate Armed Services Committee recommended, and that is we establish a no-fly zone. And we have a buffer zone,” he said in an interview on PBS’s “Charlie Rose” that aired Monday night.

Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

“First thing I would do is tell Putin that, if you bomb the people that we train in Syria, I shoot your plane’s down.

I would tell him, Putin, you’re not going to attack the people we train. I would arm the Ukrainians so they could fight back for their own freedom. I would export natural gas to Europe to undercut his monopoly and I would tell him that Assad’s going to go. We’re gonna deal with ISIL first.

I would put Putin on notice that you’re not going to destabilize countries with military intervention.

I would shoot his planes down, I would literally shoot his planes down if he attacked the people we trained because we have to do that. It is not right by the American president to entice people to come to a fight, train and equip them, side with them on their cause, and sit back and watch them being slaughtered by an adversary of their people and adversary of the United States.”

I would put Putin on notice that you’re not going to destabilize countries with military intervention.” Oh, the IRONY.

Tom Cotton (R-AR)

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), one of the administration’s biggest foreign policy critics, called on the administration to take stronger measures.

“We should establish no-fly zones in Syria and make it clear that any aircraft that enters those zones will be shot down,” he said.

I honeslty can’t believe that the American people have stooped so low from when the country was founded. If this shows us anything, it’s that public schools have failed, and that indoctrination via schools, media, and so on is alive and well. We get the same repeated talking point, over and over, from these people.

These people, who by the way, have been wrong on foreign policy for so long. These are the same people who have been wanting to bomb the Middle East. Hillary Clinton and Sanders aren’t spared. Clinton voted for the wars, and Sanders voted for he spending and funding of all the bombs. These people, all foreign policy idiots, need to be stopped, or at the very least, ignored and not listened to.

If the US wants to truly find a long-term strategy with dealing with the Middle East, then getting out, along with taking out our bases, is the first thing that needs to happen. Take the drones while we’re at it.

But that’s just me. Don’t believe that the US Government, and the cronies I listed above aren’t trying to mess things up? Consider these documents released by the Department of Defense:
